Thoracic nerve

Japanese: 胸神経 - きょうしんけい（英語表記）thoracic nerve

There are 12 pairs of spinal nerves that emerge from the thoracic spinal cord. Like other spinal nerves, they are divided into anterior and posterior branches. The anterior branch is called the intercostal nerve, runs between the ribs along the lower edge of the ribs, and distributes to the intercostal muscles and skin of the chest. The posterior branch emerges on the posterior wall of the trunk, where it divides into lateral and medial cutaneous branches, and distributes to the deep back muscles and skin of the back.

胸髄から出る脊髄神経で，12対ある。一般の脊髄神経と同じく前後の2枝に分れる。前枝は肋間神経といわれ，肋骨の下縁に沿って肋間を走り，肋間筋や胸部の皮膚に分布する。後枝は体幹の後壁に出て外側皮枝と内側皮枝に分れ，深背筋と背部皮膚に分布する。
