Owari Yagyu School

One of the schools of swordsmanship. It was founded by Yagyu Hyogonosuke Toshiyoshi, the grandson of Yagyu Muneyoshi, the founder of the Yagyu Shinkage-ryu, who received a certificate of approval from his grandfather. Toshiyoshi served the Owari Tokugawa family in 1615, so it is called this to distinguish it from the Edo Yagyu school. Source: About Shogakukan Digital Daijisen Plus Information |

剣術の流派のひとつ。柳生新陰流開祖・柳生宗厳(むねよし)の孫にあたる柳生兵庫助利厳(ひょうごのすけとしよし)が、祖父から印可を受けて創始。利厳が元和元年（1615）に尾張徳川家に仕官したことから、江戸の柳生流と区別してこう呼ばれる。
