A town in Higashimorokata County in central Miyazaki Prefecture. It occupies the Honjo River basin in the southern part of the Miyazaki Plain, and the northwestern part is mountainous. Forcing cultivation of vegetables is popular, and the town also produces tobacco leaves and tea. It is home to the Honjo Kofun Group (historic site). Area: 130.63 km2 . Population: 20,909 (2010).
