King Jinheung's Takkyong Monument - Shinkouou Takkyong Monument
King Jinheung of Silla, Korea, took advantage of the gap between Goguryeo and Baekje to greatly expand his territory in three directions (takujyo), and erected monuments in various places to commemorate this and appease the people. It is also called the Monument to King Jinheung's Tour of Tours or the Monument to King Jinheung's Tour of the Boundary. The following four monuments are known so far, and if we add the Seokseong Monument, discovered in 1978 at the ruins of a mountain fortress in Danyang, North Chungcheong Province, there are five in total. (1) Changnyeong Monument Located in Changnyeong County, South Gyeongsang Province. This monument commemorates the alliance he made with his vassals the year before the invasion of Daegaya (Goryeong-gaya near Changnyeong) in the 23rd year of King Jinheung's reign (562). It was erected in 561.
