Ahmad Shah

1898‐1930
The seventh Shah of the Qajar dynasty. Reigned 1909-25. Born in Tabriz as the second son of the sixth Shah, Mohammad Ali. During the Iranian Constitutional Revolution, he succeeded his father, who was dethroned when the faction took control of Tehran due to a fierce conflict with the constitutionalists, and ascended to the throne as the last Shah of the dynasty (1909). After a five-year regency period, he began to rule directly just before World War I, but came into conflict with Reza Khan (Reza Shah Pahlavi), who seized real power after a coup in 1921. In 1925, when the Fifth Parliament passed a resolution to abolish the Qajar dynasty, he retired to France.

カージャール朝の第7代シャー。在位1909‐25年。第6代モハンマド･アリーの第2子としてタブリーズに生まれる。イラン立憲革命の最中，立憲派と激しく対立し同派のテヘラン制圧と同時に廃位させられた父の跡を継ぎ，同王朝最後のシャーに即位(1909)。その後5年間の摂政期間を経て，第1次大戦直前に親政を開始するが，1921年のクーデタ後実権を掌握したレザー･ハーン(レザー･シャー･パフラビー)と対立。25年，第5議会がカージャール朝の廃止を可決するに及んでフランスに隠棲。
