Qutadghu Bilig

This book is a moral book for the monarch, written in verse in Kara-Khanid Turkish by Grand Chamberlain Yusuf in 1069-70 in Kashgar, the capital of the Kara-Khanid dynasty in Central Asia. The title of the book means "Knowledge Necessary for Happiness." It is written in the form of a dialogue between four characters who represent justice, happiness, wisdom, and satisfaction, and explains the mindset necessary for the life of a monarch. It is important as the oldest surviving work of Turkish-Islamic literature. [Mano Eiji]
