'Abd al-Qādir al-Jīlānī

Founder of the Qadiriyya, the first mystical order (tariqa) ​​in the Islamic world. Born in Gilan, Iran, he went to Baghdad and became a Hanbalite jurist. In his later years, he became popular among the citizens as a preacher, and a ribat (monastery) was built for him.
