Kinpu Shrine

Japanese: 金峯神社 - きんぷじんじゃ
Kinpu Shrine
Located on Mt. Kinpu, Yoshino-cho, Yoshino-gun, Nara Prefecture. Formerly a local shrine, it enshrines Kanayamahiko-no-Mikoto. In the past, the enshrined deities were Kanayamahiko-no-Mikoto, Oyamatsumi-no-Kami, Okuninushi-no-Mikoto, Sukunahikona-no-Mikoto, and Emperor Ankan, but in the Kamakura period, it was also called Konsei Daimyojin or Kanayama Myojin, and was considered a god who protected gold. In 853 (Jinju 3), it became a famous deity, and in 854 (Saiko 1), it was made a deity that received offerings at the Tsukizumi, Sojo, and Kamiimasho festivals. In 859 (Jogan 1), it was awarded the third rank, and in the same year, Fujiwara no Yamakage, Shigetakagawahito, and others received an imperial decree and held a festival to ward off insect damage.
