...The biography of Doi Kiyoyoshi, a small feudal lord in the Mima region of Uwa County, is known as a war chronicle, but its seventh volume, Shinmin Kangetsyu, is said to be the oldest agricultural book in Japan, compiled in the early Kan'ei era by Doi Mizuya, a priest at Mishima Shrine in Mima Miyanoshita. In addition, the Uwajima domain had the Uwagun Kyuki (1681) and Ichinokiri (Ichinokiri), compiled by Iseki Morihide, which show the high level of agriculture and culture in the early Edo period. The lord of Uwajima, Date Munetada, had two of his retainers apprenticed to Sato Nobuhiro, and implemented a policy of industrial development from the Tenpo period onwards. ...
