A type of crepe, a representative silk fabric. It is used for plain dyeing, Yuzen dyeing, wax dyeing, etc. for long juban, kimono length, feather length, and Japanese accessories. The warp threads are plain woven with raw silk. The weft threads are very tightly twisted more than 3,500 times per meter, and two right-handed and left-handed twists are woven alternately into the fabric. After being refined and the sericin is removed, the fabric shrinks and the surface becomes uneven, creating a "shibori"-like texture, resulting in a white fabric. Because the warp threads are made of thin threads and have a high density, it feels as if the warp threads cover the weft threads, and the "shibori" is small and soft, giving it a fine, elegant texture.
