A numerical value used to determine the size and strength of a ship's mooring equipment, calculated from the ship's main dimensions using a set formula. A ship is equipped with anchors, anchor chains, mooring lines, etc. as mooring equipment, but designing the dimensions, required strength, and quantity of these items each time would be unified and complicated, so a method is used to calculate the number of pieces of equipment based on experience. In the Ship Safety Act, the basic number is the sum of the ship's width and depth multiplied by its length, and the dimensions of the superstructure such as the superstructure are added to this to determine the number of pieces of equipment.
