Grand Duke of Lithuania. Reigned 1345-77. Son of Grand Duke Gediminas. Also called Olgierd. Divided the country with his brother Kastutis and ruled the eastern part of the country, centered on Vilnius. Together with Kastutis, he defended the country against the invasion of the Teutonic Knights, while also focusing on the Eastern policy, defeating the Mongol-Tatar army and expanding the territory into Slavic lands such as Kiev, Podolia, and Bornia. His son Jogaila became the founder of the Jagiellonian dynasty of the Polish-Lithuanian United Kingdom.

リトアニアの大公。在位1345‐77年。大公ゲディミナスの子。オルギエルドOlgierdとも呼ばれる。弟カストゥティスと国土を分割し，ビルニュスを中心とする東部地域を治めた。カストゥティスとともに，ドイツ騎士団の国内侵入を防衛するかたわら，東方政策に意を注ぎ，モンゴル･タタール軍を討ち，キエフ，ポドリア，ボルニア等スラブの地に領土を広げた。その子ヨガイラは，ポーランド･リトアニア連合王国ヤギエウォ王朝の始祖となった。
