Kira Mitsusada

Year of birth: unknown. Military commander during the Northern and Southern Courts period. Son of Mitsuyoshi. Called Kazusa Saburo. Jibu-no-taifu and Sahyoe-no-jo. Mitsusada, who had acted as an official of Ashikaga Tadayoshi, became active as a member of the Tadayoshi faction when the Kan'o Disturbance broke out. In January 1351 (Kan'o 2/Shohei 6), Mitsusada, in response to Momoi Naotsune, led an army into Kyoto together with Shiba Takatsune and others, contributing to the victory of the Tadayoshi faction. Tadayoshi had once taken real power in the shogunate, but at the end of July that same year, he resigned from government affairs and retreated to the Hokuriku region, and Mitsusada followed him. In February of the following year, Takauji and Tadayoshi clashed in Kamakura, but when Tadayoshi was poisoned to death during peace negotiations, Mitsusada joined the Southern Court and headed west. After that, he often attacked Kyoto together with Kusunoki Masanori and others. After that, he submitted to the shogunate and became the head of the Hikitsukekata in the 2nd year of the Sadaharu era (1831-1865). Mitsusada was not appointed as a shugo. After Mitsusada, the Kira clan lost its influence and became only a minor force within Mikawa.

南北朝時代の武将。満義の子。上総三郎と号す。治部大夫,左兵衛佐。足利直義の吏僚として行動してきた満貞は,観応の擾乱の勃発とともに直義党として活動するようになる。観応2/正平6(1351)年1月,満貞は桃井直常に呼応して斯波高経らと共に軍勢を率いて入京し,直義派の勝利に貢献する。いったんは幕府の実権を握った直義であったが,同年7月末には直義は政務を辞して,北陸に落ちていき,満貞も彼に従った。翌年2月,鎌倉において尊氏と直義は激突したが,その和平交渉の最中に,直義が毒殺されると,満貞は南朝に属し,西上した。その後楠木正儀らと共にしばしば京都を攻めている。その後,幕府に帰順し,貞治2/正平18年には引付方の頭人に列している。満貞は守護には任ぜられなかった。満貞以後吉良氏は勢力を失い,三河国内の小勢力にすぎなくなる。
