Gravity battery - Gravity cell

A battery generates an electromotive force when gravity is involved in the movement of metal ions in the battery. Zinc plates are placed above and below a zinc sulfate solution, or cadmium plates are placed above and below a cadmium iodide solution. There have also been attempts to use centrifugal force instead of gravity. In the past, a battery was made in which a copper sulfate solution was placed on top of a copper plate, which acted as the anode, and a zinc plate was placed on top, which acted as the cathode.
