A report (mainly in the mass media) that clearly differs from the objective "facts" in some part or aspect is called a misreport, and a false report is a report that is completely untrue or has not happened, whether it is an exaggeration of the fact, the result of the source's, journalist's, or the person who compiled the report's information, a misconception, or an intentional act, as if it had happened. The difference is between presenting fiction as real news and mixing fiction, whether with good or bad intentions, but it is difficult to draw a line between the two based on specific cases, and in everyday language they are usually lumped together under the term "misreporting."
