A type of jewelry. Rings are said to have a higher cultural significance than other jewelry. In primitive societies, necklaces, bracelets, earrings, etc. are used, but rings are not used much. This is because rings get in the way of people who are constantly hunting, gathering, or farming. Rings were not used in Babylonia or Assyria either. The history of rings dates back to ancient Egypt, when rings were made of gold, shells, soft stones, and amethyst, and for the masses, there were ceramic ones. In Egypt, rings with scarabs carved into them, or ring mounts (carved with a seal of approval) shaped like scarabs, were used as symbols of good luck.
