Interludes and Poems (1908) and the following collections established his status as a Georgian poet, and his Collected Poems (30) was included in the Oxford Poets Collection. After World War I, he lectured English literature at the universities of Liverpool, Leeds, London and Oxford, and developed clear and insightful literary theories in works such as Thomas Hardy: A Critical Study (12), The Epic (14), The Theory of Poetry (24), Romanticism (26), and Poetry, Its Music and Meaning (32).
