A village in the state of Karnataka in southern India. It was the first capital of the Early Chalukya Dynasty, which ruled the area from the 6th to 8th centuries, and was later moved to Badami. It is known for having over 100 remaining Hindu and Jain temples, including the cave temples, the horseshoe-shaped Durga Temple, and the oldest temple in Aihole, Ladkan Temple.
