Aihole (English spelling)

A village in the state of Karnataka in southern India. It was the first capital of the Early Chalukya Dynasty, which ruled the area from the 6th to 8th centuries, and was later moved to Badami. It is known for having over 100 remaining Hindu and Jain temples, including the cave temples, the horseshoe-shaped Durga Temple, and the oldest temple in Aihole, Ladkan Temple. インド南部、カルナータカ州の村。6世紀から8世紀にかけて同地を支配した前期チャールキヤ朝の最初の都があった場所であり、のちにバーダーミに遷都した。石窟寺院をはじめ、馬蹄型のドゥルガー寺院やアイホーレ最古のラードカーン寺院など、ヒンズー教やジャイナ教の寺院が100以上残っていることで知られる。
