A former town in Setana District, Hokkaido. A port on the west coast of the Oshima Peninsula that opened in the Keicho era. The town fishes for squid and trout, and also operates a diversified business that includes raising beef cattle and farming. In September 2005, the town merged with Taisei Town in Kuon District and Kitahiyama Town in Setana District to become Setana Town in Kuon District. Area: 125.62 km2 . Population: 2,759 (2003). 北海道瀬棚郡の旧町。慶長年間から開かれた渡島(おしま)半島西岸の港。イカ,マスなどを漁獲,肉専用牛の飼育や畑作など複合経営も行う。2005年9月,久遠郡大成町,瀬棚郡北檜山町と合併し町制,久遠郡せたな町となる。125.62km2。2759人(2003)。
