Microscopic analysis

A general term for analytical methods that involve chemical reactions under a microscope and the observation of physical properties. It is also called microscopic analysis. In analytical chemistry, it is used as a qualitative analysis method for trace samples. Any reaction such as precipitation, coloration, gas evolution, dissolution, or melting can be used. Ordinary microscopes with a magnification of up to about 100x are often used, but a polarizing microscope is often used because it allows the user to simultaneously learn optical properties other than the color and shape of the crystals.

顕微鏡下で化学反応を行わせたり、物理的性質を観察することによって行う分析法の総称。顕微鏡分析ともいう。分析化学的には、微量試料の定性分析法として利用されている。反応は、沈殿生成、呈色、気体発生、溶解、融解などのあらゆる反応が利用される。倍率100倍程度までの普通の顕微鏡がよく用いられるが、偏光顕微鏡を用いれば、結晶の色や結晶形以外の光学的性質も同時に知りうるなどの便が多い。
