Japanese: 教育刷新委員会 - きょういくさっしんいいんかい
Education Reform Committee
This investigative council was established under the Prime Minister in August 1946 to investigate and deliberate important issues related to education reform in Japan immediately after the end of World War II. Its predecessor was the Japanese Board of Education, which was established to cooperate with the American Education Mission. It was renamed the Education Reform Council in 1949 and existed until the Central Council for Education was established in the Ministry of Education in June 1952. It was a central organization that actively promoted the establishment of a new education system, making 35 recommendations on the enactment of the Fundamental Law of Education, the implementation of the 6-3 system, the university system, social education, teacher training, education administration and finance, and more.
