Kuchinoshima Island

A group of volcanic islands located 40 to 60 km south of the Satsuma Peninsula in southern Kagoshima Prefecture. From the east, the three islands of Takeshima, Iwo Jima, and Kuroshima form the village of Mishima. The word "Kuchino" means that they are close to the main island of Kyushu. 鹿児島県南部，薩摩半島の南方 40～60kmの海上にある火山島群。東から竹島，硫黄島，黒島の3島で，三島村を形成。「口之」の語は九州本島から近いところにあるの意。鹿児島港から定期船が各島を回航する。
