Japanese: 清拙正澄 - せいせつしょうちょう
Masazumi Seisetsu - Seisetsu Shocho

A Rinzai sect monk who came to Japan at the end of the Kamakura period. He was from Fuzhou (Fujian Province), China. His secular surname was Liu. After studying under various masters, he succeeded Gugokuchie and came to Japan in 1326 (Kareku 1) at the invitation of the Hojo clan. He lived in Kamakura's Kencho-ji, Jochi-ji, and Engaku-ji temples, before retiring to Zenko-an at Kencho-ji. In 1333 (Ganko 3/Shokei 2), he moved to Kennin-ji in Kyoto, and then was promoted to Nanzen-ji, and later became the first abbot of Kaizen-ji in Shinano (Nagano Prefecture) at the request of Ogasawara Sadamune. He retired to Zenkyoan once again, but was ordered by imperial decree to move back to Kennin-ji Temple, where he passed away on January 17, 1339 (4th year of Engen, 2nd year of Ryakuo). He was posthumously named Daikan Zenji. His books include "The Sayings of Priest Seisetsu Wajo," "The Zenkyo Collection of Priest Seisetsu," "Daikan Shingi," and "Daikan Sho Seigi."
