A town in Shimoina County in southern Nagano Prefecture. The entire town is mountainous, with the Tenryu River flowing south along its eastern border and National Route 151 running through it. There are scattered agricultural and mountain villages, and the town produces forest products. Yasuoka Dam, which is part of the Tenryu River system, is located here. Area: 123.07 km2 .
