An illustrated scroll from the early Kamakura period. Colored on paper. One volume. According to one theory, it was a two-volume version. Currently, it is in the form of a four-volume scroll. The story revolves around Kibi no Makibi , who went to China as a Japanese envoy to the Tang Dynasty, being given many difficult tasks by the Tang court to test his talents, but being helped by the spirit of Abe no Nakamaro, who skillfully overcame the challenges. 鎌倉時代初期の絵巻。紙本着色。一巻。一説にもと二巻本。現在は、四巻の巻子本の体裁をとる。遣唐使として入唐した吉備真備(きびのまきび)が、唐の朝廷から多くの難題を出されその才芸を試されるが、安倍仲麻呂の霊の助けによって、たくみに難題を切りぬけたという説話を主題にしている。筆者不詳。ボストン美術館所蔵。
