[1] [noun] A lumberyard established in large cities with high demand for lumber during the Edo period, and a lumber dealer district nearby. Famous examples include Fukagawa in Edo, Horikawabata in Nagoya, and Itachibori in Osaka. *Haiku poem Azuma Nishiki (1769) "The storehouse of Tori no Kiba, named after the storehouse" [2] [1] A place name in the mid-western part of Koto Ward, Tokyo. During the Edo period, lumber wholesalers who handled official lumber for the shogunate gathered here and formed a lumber dealer district. The lumberyard was relocated to Shinkiba on the Tokyo Bay coast in the southeastern part of the ward after 1974. [2] Refers to the fourth generation Ichikawa Danjūrō (from the fact that he retired to Kiba in Fukagawa, Edo). The boss of the lumberyard. [1] 〘名〙江戸時代、木材の需要の多い大都市に設けられた貯木場、およびその近くの材木屋街。江戸の深川、名古屋の堀川端、大坂の立売堀(いたちぼり)などが著名。※俳諧・吾妻錦（1769）「蔵と名の付いた斗りの木場の蔵」[2][一] 東京都江東区中西部の地名。江戸時代、幕府の御用材を扱う材木問屋が集まり、材木屋街を形成。貯木場は、昭和四九年（一九七四）以降に区東南部、東京湾岸の新木場に移転した。[二] (江戸深川の木場に隠居したところから) 四代目市川団十郎をいう。木場の親玉。木場の親父。※洒落本・傾城買指南所（1778）「三升どのと相手になってしているやうには思れぬ。やっぱり、きばとしているやうだ」
