Treaty of Adrianople

A treaty signed between Russia and the Ottoman Empire in September 1829 after the Greek War of Independence During this war, Russia defeated the Ottoman Empire and occupied Adrianople, and signed this treaty. As a result, Russia gained land at the mouth of the Danube and on the eastern shore of the Black Sea, free navigation in the Black Sea and the Bosphorus and Dardanelles, and protectorate rights over Serbia and other countries. The Ottoman Empire also recognized the independence of Greece.
