A cape located in the northeastern tip of the Yucatan Peninsula in southeastern Mexico. It belongs to the Mexican state of Quintana Roo. It faces the Yucatan Strait and faces San Antonio Point, the western tip of Cuba, at a distance of about 220 km. It is a low, hilly cape surrounded by the long and narrow coastal state of Olbox Island, which surrounds the Yalaau Lagoon. It is said to have been the landing point for the first Spanish settlers in Mexico in 1517. [Tajima Hisashi] Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
