Kisegawa

This river collects spring water from around Gotemba city in eastern Shizuoka prefecture, flows south, and flows south between Hakone volcano and Fuji/Ashitaka volcano before joining the Kano River. It is a tributary of the Kano River. It is about 30 km long, with a drainage area of ​​275 square km. It shares a watershed with the Ayusawa River, which flows north to Gotemba city. It collects water from springs at the foot of Mt. Fuji, the western slope of Hakone, and the Aitaka mountain range, and its main tributaries include the Fukara River, Sano River, and Momosawa River. The lower reaches form an alluvial fan, occupying part of the Tagata Plain. It is also famous historically for the old station of Kisegawa-shuku (Kisegawa-shuku, Numazu City) and the "Meeting at the Kisegawa" between Minamoto no Yoritomo and Yoshitsune in 1180 (Jisho 4). In the midstream, lava appears in the riverbed as the valley is located above the Mishima lava flow, and there is a lot of underground water, but you can also see Goryu Falls and Ayutsubo Falls.

静岡県東部、御殿場市(ごてんばし)街地周辺の湧水(ゆうすい)を集めて南流し、箱根火山と富士・愛鷹(あしたか)火山との間を南下し狩野川(かのがわ)に合流する川。狩野川の一支流。延長約30キロメートル。流域面積275平方キロメートル。御殿場市街地に北流する鮎沢川(あゆさわがわ)との分水界をもつ。富士山麓(さんろく)の湧水、箱根西斜面、愛鷹山地からの水を集め、おもな支流に深良(ふから)川、佐野川、桃沢(ももさわ)川などがある。下流部は扇状地を形成して田方(たがた)平野の一部を占める。古駅の木瀬川宿（黄瀬川宿、沼津市）や、1180年（治承4）源頼朝(よりとも)と義経(よしつね)の「木瀬川の対面」など歴史的にも有名である。中流部は、三島溶岩流上に谷筋が位置するために河床に溶岩が現れ、伏流水も多くなるが、五竜ノ滝、鮎壺(あゆつぼ)ノ滝などもみられる。
