Founder of the Kushan dynasty. In the Book of the Later Han, he appears as Qiu Shuxi. He was a member of the Guishan dynasty, one of the five feudal lords under the Great Yuezhi (→Yuezhi) in Bactria. He took power in place of the Great Yuezhi in the second half of the 1st century BCE and ruled north of the Hindu Kush. He then advanced south, destroying Kabul, Anxi (Parthians in Sistan), and Qibin (Gandhara), and came to control the entire area of the Kabul River. クシャン朝の創始者。『後漢書』には邱就郤 (きゅうしゅうげき) とみえる。バクトリア地方の大月氏 (→月氏 ) 配下の5翕侯 (きゅうこう) の一つ,貴霜翕侯 (クシャンキュウコウ) の出身で,前1世紀後半頃大月氏に代って政権を握り,ヒンドゥークシ以北を支配した。その後南進し,カブールや安息 (シースターン方面のパルティア人) ,けい賓国 (ガンダーラ) を滅ぼしてカブール川全域を支配するにいたった。
