Loess fauna

Japanese: 黄土動物群 - おうどどうぶつぐん
Loess fauna

...Also, because it is eroded along vertical cracks, vertical cliffs form on the river banks (loess gorges). In addition to snail fossils and ostrich egg fossils, loess contains the fossils of large mammals such as mammoths, woolly rhinos, bighorn deer, long-horned bison, hyenas, buffaloes, and camels, which indicate a cold, dry climate. These are called loess faunas or loess faunas. Also, several layers of buried paleosols formed during interglacial and subinterglacial periods, when deposition ceased, are sandwiched within the loess.
