Japanese: クグ（英語表記）Cyperus cyperoides

A perennial plant of the Cyperaceae family. It is also called Inukugu. It grows naturally in moist grasslands in warm areas such as Western Japan and the Izu Islands. The stems are 30-80 cm tall, and the leaves are thin and grow on the base. From summer to autumn, the stems bear several to several dozen cylindrical pale green flower spikes at the top, and four to five leaf-like bracts on the outside.
