〘Noun〙① A bathtub in an Edo public bath. It is narrower and shallower than those in Kyoto and Osaka. There are no seats around, and the space between the pomegranate mouth and the bathtub is also narrow. ② In the Edo period, in busy ports with a lot of cargo ships coming and going, ships with baths for the crew and passengers of cargo ships were built, and they were used for business, collecting bathing fees. These ships were called yubai. The ones along the rivers of Edo were considered to be representative of these, hence the name.
