Novelist. Born in Hikobe Village, Shiwa County, Iwate Prefecture (present-day Shiwa Town). His real name was Osakazu. In 1897 (Meiji 30), he entered the Prefectural Morioka Middle School. He became acquainted with Kindaichi Kyosuke and Ishikawa Takuboku. He entered the law department of Tokyo Imperial University, but dropped out due to his father's death. In 1912, he joined the Hochi Shimbun newspaper. He serialized character reviews and was also known for his record reviews under the name "Araebisu." When All Yomimono was launched in 1931 (Showa 6), he was asked to write a detective story, and he created Zenigata Heiji from the special skill of Zhang Qing, the "missing arrow" in Suikoden, a novel he loved, who threw stones without missing a beat. In 1958, he won the 6th Kikuchi Kan Award for his serialization of "Zenigata Heiji Torimono Hikae" which ran for 27 years. His other works include "Gojusan-tsugi (The 53 Stations of 30,000 Ryo)" (1934), which tells the story of the struggle for 30,000 ryo during the turbulent end of the Edo period, and the essay "Kodo Hyakuwa (One Hundred Stories of Kodo)" (1959). The Nomura Kodo Memorial Library is located in the central community center of his hometown, Shiwa-cho. He was posthumously awarded the Order of the Sacred Treasure Third Class.
