Akai - Red
〘Noun〙 ("I" means a place to draw water for irrigation. Sometimes it means a well) A well for drawing water for altar offerings in front of the Buddha. By extension, it is also used to mean a well in a temple or graveyard. ※Kanshinji Documents - March 3, 837 ( 4th year of the Jowa era), Draft of Kanshinji Engi Jitsurokucho "There is an Agai well to the southeast of the shrine, called the Ancient Tama well ."
