Magnetic prospecting

A geophysical survey using magnetic force. This method uses a magnetometer to measure the strength of the earth's magnetic field and detects highly magnetic iron ore deposits and layers of iron sand. It is also widely used in surveys of the underground structure of volcanoes and the structure of the earth's crust. Measurements using magnetometers are not only carried out on the ground, but also in the air and at sea using aircraft and survey ships. This method is also used to detect landmines and weapons. 磁力を利用した物理探査。磁力計で地磁気の強さを測定し，磁性の強い鉄鉱床や砂鉄鉱層などを検出する手法で，火山の地下構造や地殻構造の調査などにも広く活用される。磁力計による測定は地上だけでなく，航空機や調査船によって空中や海上でも行なわれる。また地雷探査や凶器探査にもこの手法が応用される。
