Metal thin film resistors

[Resistors for electronic circuits]
Many resistive elements in electronic circuits have been replaced by integrated circuits, but resistors remain the main and fundamental components of electronic circuits. The main types are wirewound resistors, which are made by winding thin alloy resistance wire around a bobbin; metal thin film resistors and carbon film resistors, which are made by forming a thin film of metal or carbon on a cylindrical or flat insulating base; and solid resistors, which are made by mixing carbon powder or other resistive material with powders of phenolic resin or glass and compressing them like a pencil lead. The development of integrated circuits has significantly improved the packaging density of electronic circuits and reduced power consumption, and resistors are also becoming smaller in size.
