…Each volume is a novel, but excluding one overlapping piece and the 40th volume of Er Koku Bao An Jiongqi, which is actually a play, the collection contains a total of 198 novels. The contents consist of written records of lectures given by lecturers in the Song and Yuan dynasties, i.e., 'Huaben', and so-called 'Giwabon', which were created in the Ming dynasty in imitation of the huaben format, and some of them are apparently the editor's own creations. There are more 'Giwabon' in the later 'Er Bao' than in the 'Sanyan'. …
