Nitrogen fixation is the process of synthesizing primary nitrogen compounds (such as ammonia) from nitrogen gas obtained by the air liquefaction process, or from air itself. This process is carried out on an industrial scale in the air nitrogen fixation industry, which was established around the beginning of the 20th century. From the primary compounds, various nitrogen compound derivatives are manufactured.
