...In the Jodo and Jishu sects, a ritual called Ju-nen-juu-sho is performed in which a monk bestows ten repetitions on a believer to help them form a connection with Amida Buddha. When the monk and believer chant ten times at the same time, it is called Do-sho Ju-nen, and when the monk chants once first, then the believer chants once, and they both finish chanting at the same time on the tenth repetition, it is called Kiri Ju-nen. In the Jodo sect, at funerals, after leading the deceased in the final act, the chief priest chants the six-character name of Amida Buddha, Namu Amida Butsu, ten times....
