Battaglia

Japanese: battaglia
Battaglia

...Furthermore, the idea is that program music linked to literary works, such as Liszt's Faust Symphony, does not musicalize the content of the literature, but is an attempt to use sound to express something deeper than the literary content that the literary work aimed to express through its subject matter but was unable to fully express, and is a continuation of Goethe's creative work.
[history]
The precursors of 19th-century program music include the 14th-century vocal piece caccia (meaning "hunt"), which contains imagery depicting bird songs, and the 15th-century vocal piece battaglia (meaning "battle"), which depicts war scenes. In contrast to these vocal program music techniques, the instrumental works include the 17th-century Nightingale Suite by Alessandro Poglietti (?-1683) and virginal pieces depicting lightning and thunder by John Mundy (c. 1555-1630).

[歴史]
