Greek-Roman Dialogues - I won't say it again

…As a poet, he wrote long romantic poems and great historical dramas, but today he is forgotten, and is remembered only for a few short poems with well-formed forms and elegant idioms. However, as a prose writer, he was a master of his generation, and his representative works, the five volumes of “Fantastic Dialogues” (1824-29) and “Greek-Roman Dialogues” (1853), are beautifully written versions of dialogues between famous people from ancient times to the present, from Pericles and Aspasia, Dante and Beatrice, to Calvin and Louis XIV. The depth of his enjoyment comes from his skill in conjuring up the scenes of these dialogues, rather than their political or philosophical content.
