... These regulations include compulsory regulations such as incest taboos, exogamy, and endogamy, which prohibit people in society from marrying or having sexual relations within a certain range. In contrast, in the case of cousin marriage and marriage residence regulations, there are cases where they are compulsory regulations, but there are also cases where there is no preferential regulation that a certain method is preferable, or where there is no such norm but the statistical frequency is high as a result. (Post-marriage) residence regulations are related to where a married couple will live after marriage, and include (1) virilocal, where the husband lives with his parents' family or in their vicinity; (2) uxorilocal, where the wife lives with her parents' family; (3) ambilocal, where the husband or wife chooses whichever is more convenient; (4) neolocal, where the husband lives away from his parents' home; (5) avunculocal, where the husband lives with his mother's uncle; and (6) duolocal, where the husband and wife do not live together. ...
