A strait between the eastern tip of Cuba and the western tip of Hispaniola in the West Indies, also known as the Canal de Los Vientos. It is about 80 kilometers wide and connects the Caribbean Sea to the Atlantic Ocean. It is the main shipping route from the eastern United States to the Panama Canal.
