Kyoto Bachi - Kyobachi

...Ivory, buffalo horn, and tortoiseshell are used as materials, but some also use boxwood or oak in parts. As a special example, the thin-necked Yanagawa shamisen plectrum (Kyo plectrum) used in some jiuta is thin all over, and the kobachi (small plectrum) used for the high-pitched sounds of shinnai is extremely small. Kouta does not use plectrums, but they are used in concerts and the like.
