Kizawa [village] - Kizawa

Japanese: 木沢[村] - きさわ

A village in Naka District, central Tokushima Prefecture. Population 1,058 (1995). Surrounded by the Tsurugi Mountains, the Sakashu Kitou River, which originates on the southern slope of Mount Tsurugi, flows east through the center and joins the Sawaya River, which flows south in the Sawaya area. There is almost no flat land in the river basin, and most of the settlements are located on gentle slopes of the mountains. Forestry is the main industry, and the town plays a part in the Kitou forestry industry, with many beautiful forests. Cultivation of yuzu, plums, chestnuts, and other crops is thriving on the slopes. Kurotaki-ji Temple in Sakashu is the inner sanctuary of Tairyuji Temple, the 21st temple of the 88 Shikoku Temples. Obata is home to a breeding site for the Tanuki no Tanuki catfish, a natural monument.

徳島県中部，那賀郡の村。人口1058(1995)。剣山地に囲まれ，剣山南斜面を水源とする坂州木頭川が中央部を東流し，沢谷地区で南流する沢谷川を合わせる。流域にはほとんど平地はなく，集落の多くは山腹緩斜面に位置する。林業が主産業で，木頭林業の一翼を担い，美林が多い。傾斜地ではユズ，梅，栗などの栽培が盛ん。坂州にある黒滝寺は四国八十八ヵ所21番札所太竜寺の奥の院である。小畠には天然記念物のタヌキノショクダイ発生地がある。
