...However, it has not been doing so well recently due to stagnant demand and low productivity due to being made up of small businesses. Other local industries include washi paper (Ichikawa Daimon-cho), seals (Rokugo-cho, Shimobe-cho), and inkstones known as Amehata suzuri (Nakatomi-cho, Hayakawa-cho) in the Kyonan area in the southern part of the basin. In particular, this region accounts for about 70% of the national production of seals, and it is notable that they are sold nationwide by sales agents and through mail order.
