A medieval European theologian and author. He studied in Erfurt and Paris, and became head of the Stephen's College in Vienna. After 1348 he became a canon of Regensburg and often stayed at the papacy in Avignon. He wrote about 30 books, and is counted among the theorists of imperial thought along with Engelbert von Admont (c. 1250-1331). He was particularly critical of the anti-clerical tendencies of Marsilius of Padua and the Franciscan spiritualists such as Michael of Cesena.
