Radicalism is a term that has been used historically in England and France to refer to a specific political attitude and political group that sought to realize democratic political reform, and it has almost the character of a proper noun. It first came into use in England in the late 18th century as a term to indicate the parliamentary reform movement known as James Fox's Radical Reform. This movement was led by the bourgeoisie, the middle class who did not have the right to vote even after the Glorious Revolution, and fundamentally criticized the old structure of parliament.
