Camber

Japanese: キャンバー - ｃａｍｂｅｒ

The distance between the canopy's chord line and the centerline. In order for the canopy (wing) to generate lift efficiently, it forms an arch-like curve when viewed from the side, and the point where the camber value is greatest is called the maximum camber. The higher the maximum camber, the greater the lift generated, but the drag also increases. The faster the aircraft, the smaller (thinner) the camber tends to be, but since it is desirable to expand the range of paraglider speeds from low to high as much as possible, and because it also affects the stall characteristics and canopy rigidity, the camber value, including the profile, varies depending on the manufacturer.

キャノピーの翼弦線と、中心線との距離。キャノピー（翼）が効率良く揚力（リフト）を発生させる為に横から見るとアーチのようなカーブを描いており、キャンバーの値が一番大きいところを最大キャンバーという。最大キャンバーが大きいと揚力の発生も大きいが抗力も増える。高速レンジの機体ほどキャンバーは小さめ（薄め）の傾向があるが、パラグライダーのスピードはなるべく低速から高速までレンジを広げたく、また失速特性やキャノピーの剛性にも影響する為、キャンバーの値はプロファイルを含めメーカーにより違いを見せている。
